Project details

Lualaba Province faces persistent electricity shortages that constrain industrial activity, social development, and economic diversification. The current electricity supply remains insufficient and highly dependent on aging infrastructure and non-renewable energy sources.

The Mulomba project responds to these challenges through the deployment of a utility-scale solar power plant designed to inject reliable renewable electricity into the provincial grid. The project will strengthen grid stability, reduce carbon emissions, and improve energy access for households and industries.

Key objectives

  • Increase electricity generation capacity in Lualaba

  • Support the energy transition through renewable sources

  • Strengthen grid stability and reliability

  • Reduce carbon emissions and diesel dependency

Expected results

  • 100 MWp solar plant installed and operational

  • Annual electricity production of approximately 168 GWh

  • Improved grid reliability for households and industries

Performance Indicators

  • Installed capacity: 100 MWp

  • Annual production: 168 GWh

  • Performance rate: 78–82%

  • Direct jobs (construction): 300

  • Permanent jobs (operation): 20

  • Project feasibility: 90%

Activity Schedule

The detailed activity schedule for this project will be finalized following the completion of technical, financial, and environmental studies. The implementation timeline, key milestones, and phasing will be determined during the feasibility and structuring stages, in alignment with financing arrangements, regulatory approvals, and contractor mobilization.
