INSAKA Forum 2025: Governor Fifi Masuka Advocates for a Sovereign and Responsible African Mining Sector
On an official visit to Zambia, the Governor of Lualaba, Fifi Masuka Saini, took part in the Zambia Mining and Investment Insaka 2025 on Thursday, October 9, 2025, in Lusaka.
In her address, the Head of the Provincial Executive called for the local processing of natural resources so that African minerals no longer leave the continent in raw form. She urged the building of a sovereign, innovative, and united African mining sector, grounded in local value addition, job creation, and shared prosperity.
Ms. Fifi Masuka praised the vision of President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, who has positioned Lualaba as a testing ground for mining sector reform in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She also emphasized strengthening cooperation between the DRC and Zambia through the development of the Lobito Corridor, a symbol of a connected and prosperous Africa.
Her message—both strategic and visionary—was warmly welcomed by participants, including Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema and the country’s Minister of Mines, Paul Kabuswe, confirming Lualaba’s role as a key player in Africa’s mining renaissance.
